Headboard mounting... I've hit a snag.

What does it matter? One or both of the items is faulty. Tell John Lewis to replace whichever they choose so that they match up.

John Lewis supplied the bed, Robert Thompson supplied the headboard.

By the way, it's a double bed.

I'm getting a bit cheesed off with things like this lately. We suffered for 6 weeks with a Loewe 32" LCD that cost us £1400 and would switch itself off on first start-up from cold. The Audiofile in Bishop's Stortford swapped the first one almost straightaway. When the second did the same thing I had to video the problem (on restarting it would show half the picture, the other half would be black) and try things like a UPS, different mains ring, drinking from the wrong side of a glass.
Eventually we received a full refund and bought a Panasonic for half the price: twice the picture, twice the user interface... and has never switched itself off.
When John Lewis delivered the bed they wouldn't take the old one as agreed and paid for, blaming a comms mix-up. So we had a double bed in the garden while the council came and collected it a few days later (for half the JL fee).

But hey, my naim rig still makes us smile, so someone somewhere has got something right!

I had a similar problem. I loosened the 2 screws securing each “vertical leg” to the headboard. I was then able to fit the “vertical legs” to the bed and retighten all screws.

I tried loosening them, I've used a similar method countless times fitting panels to fast-jets, but the thread that the screws go into is unforgiving. The screws must go in straight, and the legs are rigid. The legs aren't screwed to the headboard, they are a part of it, craftsman stuff, blah, blah, blah.

I am not talking about the screws that secure the legs to the bed, have you loosened the screws that secure the legs to the headboard.

The legs are fixed as a part of the headboard. Like the legs of a decent dining table. They can't be removed or adjusted at all. The only fixing we need to do is the legs to the bed.

double beds come in 3 widths. Is it the headboard for your width of bed?

It's a 4' 6" bed and the board is too.
I'm just waiting for Robert Thompson's to get back to me with a dimension.

Just had the call from Robert Thompson's. They say that the distance should be 3ft 6", or 106.68cm. So my measurement of 107cm is close enough.

I'll look tonight to see whether I can loosen the threaded portions in the bed frame, or maybe remove and reposition higher or lower. If not, I'll be calling John Lewis.
