Antonin Dvorak: 9th Symphony "From the new world"

Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto or any of the Sir Colin Davis LSO Symphonies. Sibelius for me is a great way to start classical journey.

Ravel, Mother Goose suite and Pictures at an Exhibition he orchestrated from Mussorgsky.
I'd say listen to the radio and see what styles you like. Beethoven is always a good start. I've always loved his 5th Sym. such history and power.

This is Highly Recommended for "happy easy going music, ( not to heavy)"
...and you may sample all the tracks on this 5 cd box-set on Amazon
I strongly recommend you surf the Spotify site [which is free] and has all genres of music including a surprising amount of interesting classical music!
It's a good idea to at least sample music before buying, there is so much out there to choose from : )

These are my favourite classical music discs.

No starting collection should be without a couple of Mozart piano concertos. A lot of choice, but Murray Perahia's recording of the complete set remains very special.

This scattergun approach is destined to fail, because no one here can have the slightest idea what music will appeal to the OP. Just imagine a similar request for suggestions for "pop" or "rock" music, which have only been around for 50 years or less!
My advice to the OP would be to tune the radio to Radio 3 for the next month (the Proms are still on!), make a note of music that appeals, then get recordings of what does appeal.
There will be no shortage of advice here for recommended recordings of any particular piece of music.

Only joking - you're right, of course, but ... everybody loves Eldorado.
