Find your inner Elvis (yuck)

Hilarious documentary on the box last night about the 'Jerusalem Elvis'. Apparently Elvis talks to a Jewish Elvis impersonator (but only in Hebrew as Hebrew is the first language in Heaven!!)- Elvis even writes him notes and 'possesses' his son and gives advice. The whole family are involved with this nonsense which has gone so far as to cause Gil, the impersonator, to sell his house and possessions and move to the US where he hopes to be as big a star as Elvis ever was but sadly he could not even make it into the final of an Elvis impersonation competition. Grown women flocked to the stage for a kiss from this overweight no-talent with his dyed black hair and ridiculous costume. Not surprisingly Uri Geller got a look in too. Come back Elvis all is forgiven. Tacky is not the word.

What the heck, it's all in good fun. If it was all in good taste, then it wouldn't BE any fun.

But yeah... stuff like this is one reason lots of people are turned off by Elvis. It took me years and years to be able to appreciate his music minus all the kitsch that surrounds it. I can remember after his death in 77' reading about a woman who left her kids unattended to be at Graceland for his funeral. Bizarre, and when all is said and done, fairly nauseating stuff.

Well Bob, to each his own, but if it wasn't for him you guys would be posting threads about classic Dean Martin.

Cheers
