"Audiophile" Recordings Speakers's Corner etc.

hi guys,
in another thread (in "hifi corner") about the ringmat on LP12the achievements of so called audiophile recordings have been heavily criticized. someone was stating they sonded quite "s%&!" whereas said, they sounded quite excellent.
i have now bought oscar peterson's "we get requests", tamba 4 "we and the sea" and luiz bonfa's "bossa nova" - all on 180gramm vinyl verve repressings by speaker's corner (obviously being remastered).
i noticed that they sound a bit over eq-ed - do you think that's due to the "audiophile mastering" process of speaker's corner or is it just the way they are. in complex passages they are quite boomy and shouty.
would the original pressings sound any better?
looking for any info on the above albums,
regards,
christian
