Thanks
I fancy this album

Vinegar Joe

Rock N Roll Gypsies
Ive listened to a few clips and they sound good
wonder why they never really made it then given the line up of Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer.

Elkie Brooks had a fairly popular album back in the late 70s/early 80s...Shooting Star. Although a few of the tracks disco-infused production has aged very poorly, there are some stand out ones. I used this LP as my reference piece of music for several years, including the first time I got to compare Naims entry level amps (42/110) with A&Rs top (well, at that time *only*) component the A60E. The huge increase in soaring dynamics of the Naim combo made one of the people in the room (my best friends girlfriend) snap her head backwards as it was completely unexpected. Needless to say I got the Naim, and my friend kept the girl.

I once worked at a Trade show years ago where the guy opposite me was Elkie's guitarist and the guy in the next stand was Kula Shakers drummer. Needless to say we had a lot of laughs.

I saw Vinegar Joe many moons ago at The Great Western Festival in Lincoln in about '72. Great line up at the festival for that period. Though I missed the Beach Boys as I passed out through the influence of alcoholic beverages.

If you are getting a Vinegar Joe elpee then I'd recommend this one

I saw them years ago and they were very good, but I seem to remember they shared the bill with String Driven Thing who were equally as good.

I know Elike had a big smash hit single with Pearl's A Singer, though I personally preferred Richard Digance's version.
