liege and lief

I can't believe I've been buying music for 30 years and that the chances are nearly every record shop I've ever been in has had a copy of this on the shelf that I've overlooked until now - almost a Foreverchanges moment for me (well not quite but a similar feeling of missing out for years before discovery).

I can't imagine getting 'completist' (or growing a beard or wearing sandals without socks) but is there any other stand out stuff by Fairport Convention or the solo albums I ought to get hold of?

On the back of this thread I bought Liege and Lief and went to see the current line up of Fairport at The Stables last week. In my opinion the best musician on stage was Chris Leslie.

Another line of exploration opens up. Many thanks.

Another success for the forum. How did you rate the concert? - having missed them in my home town I was thinking of going over to Salisbury

The consensus seemed to be that the second set was better than the first, but a well varied program.

Their support band Tiny Tin Lady were excellent too.

Hope that helps.
