DVD5 + which screen...?

Oh dear. Yet another question....
DVD5 + which screen?
My local Naim dealer tells me that to pair this player with anything less than a (rather expensive) Runco plasma display (I mentioned that I was considering LCD and plasma screens) would be a waste of money since no other display would do it justice.
He also stated that a 1080p display was a waste of time and money with this player.
So, assuming that I go for a standard HD plasma (768 or whatever it is) rather than 1080p display, does anyone have any recommendations?
I'm looking for a screen around 50 inches in size.

Just a hint:
You'ld have the same answer here in Montreal...
I personnaly use a Runco 43'' at the office to test the Naim video players (DVD5, N-Vi...).
And we always use these units (Plasmas or front projectors) to demonstrate the qualities of the players at shows in Canada.
They are (now, just a little more) expensive but will do justice to the player and will last longer than most others.
But you can also look at the Pioneer Elite, Fujitsu...
Don't go LCD larger than 32''.

Thanks, Manu.
How much should I be paying for a 50 inch Runco plasma?

I don't know, I don't sell them, i just use them, i'm working for Dimexs.
I just know new models have just been released, so dealers may be flexible on ''old'' ones.

why would that be a waste of money? does your dealer ignore the upcoming of hd standards? plus, a screen is supposed to live up to its sources and/or might be fed with multiple sources, obviously comprising 1080p ones in the near future.
this being said, the choice is yours of course
I can safely recommend Pioneer plasma screens though, they just do an amazing job.

Azjya,
I borrowed a DVD5 for some time a few months ago. On my 4x3 25" Panasonic, the difference the Naim made over a Nakamichi DVD-10s (itself no slouch) was impressive. I'm sure it'd be really nice on my newer but similar 32" Panasonic CRT.
I find the Pioneer plasmas to be very good on standard definition material. Given that in the UK 90% of all broadcast material is still standard definition, it makes little sense to buy an HD specialist like the Sony Bravia for example.
The only situations where I would consider a 1080p display would be where I had money to burn or I had strong intentions to go down the gaming route with PS3 or XBOX-360.
