You don't seem to need much help with the For Sale advertisement.

adam whats thats supposed to mean? as my post says i am inquireing into what a planar2 would sell for if i decide to sell it. As i am not a dealer or own a bluebook i was just asking for some advice on what i might ask for it.

It will sell for whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I think eBay is a more appropriate place to get this information.

Cheers

Start with 50% of what you paid for and see if anyone bites...

Dallas,

Sales adverts are against Forum rules. E-bay offer "advanced search" for people to see what various items have sold for in the past. Suggest you give that a go.

thank you .i didnt know it was against the rules .i only hoped for a general figure to go by as i am not sure what it is worth.

i'll check ebay as suggested .regards Dallas

There is a mint Planar 3 from 2000 for £170, so a Planer 2 from 1997 should be worth less than that.

I've found audiogon to be a slightly better source for pricing info than ebay (more stable and consistent pricing - e.g., search for 'Naim'). Right now on audiogon, a Planar 2 turntable with a glass plater, Grace 707 tonearm, Eon record clamp, and a Grace F9E MM cartridge is being offered for $400. This should give you a rough indication of what you can expect for your Planar 2.

No idea about the cartridge, but the deck would be worth about £100 IMHO.

Dallas

I think ROTF has it right regarding the value of the Planar 2.

The Benz looks to sell (new) in the US for around £100 so again 50% of that is probably the value (maybe less for a cartridge as they are a very risky used buy).

Good luck.

I bought one recently for £100 with RB250 and AT cartridge so i would try this price range plus postage.

On a good day £120 - £140 on flee bay. I have seen the arm alone fetching £70 £90 (mainly to spec up to an Origami or Origin rebuld for those Jap Decks Winker)

Why not just trade it in against the cdp and forget all the ebay hassle?

I'd keep the TT and save some money for the player.
If it has been lovingly used i think you've some vinyl home to spin, do you?
