TT constantly switched on?

Posted by: Manni on 22 December 2002

Hi,

nearly all forum members recommend to leave the Naim-system switched on ( Exceptions: holidays, thunderstorms ). What should I do with the turntable ( LP12 )?
By the way, the Nottingham Analogue Spacedeck has no on/off-switch!

Merry Christmas,

Although I switch my turntable off I remember reading here that someone had had their turntable on and running for 22 years except for unusual situations like power-outs.

If it's a Lingo- or Armageddon-powered TT, leave the Lingo or 'Geddon powered up. If it has Valhalla, leave it plugged in with the socket powered -- the Valhalla board itself is constantly powered and has no switch.

Leaving the platter turning all the time would severely increase wear on the bearing, I would have thought.

Best;
