Powerigle Mains Distribution System
Posted by: Polarbear on 30 July 2005
What is this I have been reading about in hi-fi+. Apparently its made by Naims German distributor and can be obtained through the Naim network.

I've heard the name but isn't it only for use in Germany?
Cheers,
Jon

I shall be asking Peter upon his return from holiday!

Hi,
It is not "country relevant" except the AC outlet plug...So you should be able to use it successfully in UK.
It was on demo at the last HIFI show in PAris last year...I think it has been developed by NAIM Germany...

If or when "Sjust" visits this thread we should get a defining comment. I do believe Stefan has one.
They look like a Kindney Dialysis exchange unit or something like that with all the flying leads. I do believe they are basically a "Hydra" made by "Welding" the individual power cords together and mounting in a classy container.
To make one work in the UK you would need to cut the standard continental style two pin plug off the power inlet cord and substitute a UK 13 amp plug.
Ready to be corrected.
regards
GEOFF

POOOOF! (supposed to indicate the sound when the bottle ghost exits the bottle and says: "At your command, Master !)
Yes, I have one. As some of the other German Naimees I know of.
All has been said in This Thread
Have fun,
Stefan

In England, I thought a Hydra from Grahams into a dedicated mains spur for the naim components was as good as it got. Is there any advantage in using the Powerrigle?

I tend to agree - if you have a Hydra I can't see any point in the PowerIgel.

How is a Graham's hydra better than the standard leads with a Maplin Multiway Plug?
Mutiplug
Posted on: 02 August 2005 by hungryhalibut
I changed from a multiplug to a hydra at the same time as getting a spur and never bothered to a/b the two. The hydra came with an MK plug, which I changed to a Crabtree. The Crabtree plug makes a very solid connection with my Crabtree unswitched socket, whereas the multiplug made a very wobbly connection.
But if yours makes a solid connection, I can't see there would be much in it.

Not sure that it is - i've not A/B the two. I just liked the idea of using what naim recommended - when they recommend something it usually works a treat. The Hydra into a dedicated spur sounds great to me.

Rumour has it that the powerigel is filled with Bavarian Sausage.
Posted on: 08 August 2005 by Markus S
Highly unlikely, given that music line, the German naim importer, is headquartered near Hamburg (which, for the geographically challenged among you, is about as far away from Bavaria as it is possible to get without crossing a border).
The filling would have to be Labskaus, a North German regional specialty.

Markus,
Apparently they buy it from the local Metzgerei.

They have tried everything else but Bavarian Sausage sounds the best.

Personally - I think it is Spätzle. I think meat causes RF interference. Either Spätzle or Knödel, but I think Spätzle was the more economically justifiable solution - originating from Swabia as it does. Some synergy with Porsche, I believe.
Also, find it amusing to read people dismissing performance of said hedgehog when they have never heard same. Ho hum.

Hi,
I've just had a quick read of the Hi-Fi+ review at my local WH Smith. Does anyone know what the current rating of the input lead and braided power cords are? This is one area where the Powerigle may score over the Hydra. Also, does the braided cord provide any form of RFI insulation?

You're supposed to buy it, then read it!

I have heard this works well on RFI.
Put a thin coat of Grota Gritsa along the length of the cord.
