Which artists are you seeing in 2010?

Posted by: BigH47 on 09 September 2009

Seems the bookings are now flowing into 2010, so a new thread.

I've just booked tickets for Chris Rea , Brighton Centre in March. Better seats than last time , I think.

After the recent two gigs I said I would not bother again for a while. This leaves almost a years gap though so maybe tempting if they change the setlist a bit and make the second half more exciting.

Decided to book with RAH on-line as the ROABP had posted a delay regarding seat allocation.

I'm located in Stalls J3. I think that's close to where I saw John Mayer a while back.

I was surprised at the price of the ROABP tickets when I looked this morning. £60 a throw seems a lot for PT. Having contributed lots to the SW Pension fund in recent years and not having enjoyed the last two gigs a whole lot in London and Paris, I decided to pass this time round. If they improve the setlist, nearer the time I reserve the right to scalp a ticket.

I'm not going to bother with PT this time/again. ROABP has seats I can't even find on the RAH website,. Also they will allocate on arrival, sorry no, for that price I want to know where I'm sitting.
£60? who does he think he is Eric C?

We (those who signed up for ROABP) did get a Live CD.

I'll spend the money on someone I haven't seen yet.

Adrian,

I agree that the Hammersmith gig was was not up to scratch (only 2nd half imho). I think this show and the US venue (unspecified) will provide more imaginative material. I understand your reservations though as you feel 'burnt' for 2 gigs in a row. Mind you, I saw 'Yes' perform 'Topographic Oceans' @ the Rainbow twice in a week and I still have cold shivers thinking about it Winker Rick Wakeman had the right idea by eating the Indian takeaway his kbd roadie brought to the stage whilst JA rambled on Smile

Good story there Denis. I'll see how things progress and if the set improves then maybe I'll ebay one. It was actually second half that bored me - I wanted the songs with impact, not Russia on Ice and Bonnie the Cat. Of course Anesthetize and Normal were good Cool

I was a little annoyed by Porcupine Tree releasing the dates for the 2009 tour piecemeal, I did enjoy travelling down to Hammersmith and meeting up with a lot of people from the forum, but as they released a date for the day before in my home town of Leeds a couple of months later, I did feel a bit ripped off.

If tickets are £60 each, then I am tempted to miss this show, I would have gone for a reasonable price, but that is ridiculous. Maybe they will play around the country next year, and I will travel 2 instead of 200 miles to see them, and sleep in my own bed afterwards.

If the ROABP tickets come down to a more reasonable price I will consider it, maybe.

EDIT:
Just saw this on the Porcupine Tree website.

RAH VIP packages off the menu
Please note that contrary to an earlier news item the band have decided not to offer a special VIP package for the Royal Albert Hall show. If you joined the Residents of a Blank Planet service over the last few days in anticipation of this, please contact the PT store to ask for a refund. Apologies for the confusion.

OK Denis - you've got to stop twisting my arm. As you say £40 is alright and reasonable, so I now have tickets, near the stage as well I think - G2. See you there Smile

This is all getting rather confusing. The band really need to start getting their act in gear on concert announcements and tickets - they are getting bigger and it now matters more IMHO. Your Leeds story is a good case in point and that website update makes them look daft.

In the end I had a lovely night at the Hammersmith show, saw an old school friend I had not seen for many years, and met up with a lot of lovely people from this forum for the first time. I also really enjoyed the set, but had it not been for the get together first, I would have felt quite cheated.

I might reconsider, but probably only if I see scarletmist resale tickets nearer the time. I do agree that Porcupine Tree, as well as some other bands, need to start thinking of their fans more, and not just splurting out each gig through their website just because the confirmation on the venue came through that day.

Booked in for John Cale & The Heritage Orchestra performing Paris 1919 at RFH in March. Drool.

Another message from ROABP today says no VIP packages and the seated tickets should have been standing.

Special delivery! Midlake at the Junction in Cambridge. And new album.

Forgive the slight tangent, but this is a corker. They came from another time and another place. No-one knew... who they was.

Looking forward to it!
