Best tool for ripping DVD-Audio

Posted by: Graham Russell on 18 April 2010

I have a small number of DVD-Audio disks that I'd like to rip to 24/192. What is the best tool to handle this? Is there anything with the error correction capability of EAC or dBpoweramp for DVDs?

I'm currently playing with the DVD-A plugin for Foobar but it's a bit painful, ripping one track at a time with no database lookup for track/album info.

Thanks
Graham

Sorry - I don't have an answer but am also interested. This hadn't occurred to me before - presumably you are wanting to rip to USB stick for use with the Naim DAC?

Do you already have software to rip the LPCM soundtrack from, say, a concert DVD into a red book format? I have something for the Mac (can dig out the details if required) and it works very well. Was listening to a rip of Peter Gabriel's Growing Up Live concert DVD last night (not available on CD) through the DAC and it was fabulous...

Just downloaded DVD Audio Explorer that seems to do a good job. Need to use Tag&Rename to set up filenames etc.

Have just ripped a DVDA to 26/96, loading onto NAS and about to give a listen.....

Hi

The tools specified here can be used to decrypt copy-protected DVD-Audio discs. This is illegal in the UK and really should be kept off Naim's forums.

Please refrain from posting any more threads concerning ripping encrypted discs

IIRC, in the UK it's still illegal to make a RIP of an unencrypted CD even. Yet Naim support doing it by producing the HDX. Why is this any different from decrypting the copy-protected DVD-Audio?
