Bloody Cats

Posted by: Justyn on 09 February 2006

I usually make a point of not letting my cats sleep in the Lounge overnight, mainly to protect the hi-fi. Last night however, I must have had a brain lapse as I didn't bother kicking them out. We had been listening to music most of the night and consequently, I,d taken the covers off the briks while listening, and placed them conveniently by the side. This morning while having my usuall cuppa before setting off, I went to replace the grills, and yes you've guessed it, one of the main front covers had been attacked and suffered serious terminal damage. (A hole about the size of a tennis ball had been ripped in the centre).

Does anybody know if replacements are available?, and if so what is there approximate cost?.

Thanks

Justyn.

I have 3 cats.
Once, one of the males, did marked his territory on my CDs and LPs.
Probably didn't like my choices?

I am with Justin on the issue of cats. Dogs can do no harm in my book though... Fred

I left the cover off my LP12 once and came back to find one of our cats curled up on the platter Eek

A cat came in through my old house-share's catflap once and did that over some of my CDs and a Yamaha home cinema amp. I was right royally PO'd as I didn't have accident insurance, and the Yammy's mobo was written off!

The resident cat had her moments, but she NEVER peed on anything.

Justyn,
A replacement for your cat I assume?
Actually my cat has never attacked my speakers though he sometimes rubs against them.
A great scratching post!!!

Lomo,

Fortunately they don't go near the speakers so at least that's something. I had negelected to put the cover back on the speaker however, and it obviously looked like a ready made bed.

After conducting a thorough investigation last night, the culprit is shown below, with not a hint of remorse showing I might add.

Unfortunately regarding replacing the little bugger, I,m afraid my girlfriend would sooner see me go than the cat. I,ll just have to be a bit more careful in future.

I sometimes worry about my parrot. I tend to take her to work most days, but sometimes I leave her at home.

When leaving her at home ... I move her cage infront of TV/Hifi rack. Then place a big pillow infront of the stereo/rack. So far, so good.

But, lately I have started to worry about the speakers and cables. I tend to always have her cage open. After reading this... maybe i should start closing her cage now and again so she gets used to it. Then leave it closed if ever i leave her at home in the day.

Justyn,
thought you'd like to know your cats double lives at my place.
" Ghost" takes it out on the carpet rather than the speakers and will thus continue to live hopefully a long and happy life.
Veronika, since being severely nipped by a galah whilst very young I have never had an affinity for parrots. Most birds kept indoors in our vicinity have eventually managed to make a beeline to supposedly blessed freedom.
I trust yours is a loyal and faithful bird at least to you if not your hifi.
