the worst recording's ever?

i would like to know what naim forum members think of some poor excuses for music that have been released but are totally unlistable on a decent rig due to sibilace boomy bass etc.
i will start the ball rolling and name my top 3
3alanis morissette under rug swept
2,anything by oasis
1,anything by u2
2 of the above are supposed to be mega stars i can only assume the people that love these artists play their music on a p**s poor portable stereo's. after spending so much money and time sorting my set up out there is nothing worse than buying a new release rushing home to find it was recorded down a phone line.

Huh? What are you saying here? I have always considered this album a classic.

Bloody hell - forgot about that one (how!?) - too damn right -and it's as bad or worse on vinyl than on CD! Shara Nelson's vocals on "Daydreaming" are probably the most screechy, but matey's voice on "One love" when he's sining "I believe" grate on my fillings!

Shame really as it's one of the best albums - period!

Yep - I agree with this too - the double disc version (limited edition my arse!) is particularly cool - and the grafitti art in the booklet is amazing to look at as well. Will have to dig that out again as I've not played it in at least 4 years...

D Marsh.

I think its a fantastic album, but as in all things not to every ones tastes.

I have a lot of drum and bass, but to be honest I havn't yet found a Goldie album that comes close to Timeless.

Er, 'Blue Lines' is one of the best (vinyl) recordings I've ever heard - lots of space and dynamics, nothing screechy whatsoever. Maybe I have a flukey pressing.

For outstandingly poor production I nominate the Velvet Underground's original verison of 'White Light White Heat'. It's just a sort of...mush.
