Ebay Scam

Posted by: Rodborough on 18 November 2007

Hi All

Please note that the following listing on Ebay has no connection with our company as claimed by the seller, I can therefore only conclude that this is a Scam. I would also like to thank a fellow forum member for bringing this to my attention.

I have contacted Ebay to ask them to remove the item and the “seller” to rebuke him for claiming to be us.

Norman

It's such a drag when this happens. I bought some SL2s from ebay once, from a legitimate seller. They then reappeared about six times in scams.

However, if you are selling a CDS3 for £376, I'll take it on buy it now!!

Appears to be a distinct lack of serial number on carton and player. Can Naim shed any light on where this item came from ? Frown

I was looking at ebay earlier and did not even bother to look beyond the index listing for this sale because it says 'one of their top flight models'. I'm afraid it just reeked of scam as I can't imaging a true naimee using such a cheap sales pitch.

Just guessing, but Naim might say it came from Salisbury Winker

On a more serious note:

Naim shipment stolen

A CDS3 was in the stolen shipment. Who knows - could be a link?

No. As it is only a photograph - probably stolen from an earlier eBay auction, possibly along with the original text.

This is a matter of second hand sales and will move across to the Padded Cell later today.

Hi All

Just to stop the speculation, it is copied from a recent listing of ours on Ebay and the original item is with its new owner who is very pleased with his purchase.

Nigel & 151

If only it were possible to find a CD Player this good for just £350 <sigh> I will email you both if ever I find such a thing. Winker

Yes, a pretty easy one to spot this as Gary pointed out earlier :
Item location: BARNSTAPLE , Derbyshire, United Kingdom

Norman, was the original item a used trade-in?

Kind regards,

Peter

Seems it is! Fortunatly the buyer hasn't payed out; I emailed him earlier. Seller claimed to be a dealer from New York aparently.

Oh, and the seller is not selling a rare 150 year old viola in a one day auction. Hmmmmmmm!!

eBay is full of scams, this afternoon there were disks on there that claimed they contained 25,000,000 entries listing banking account details and child benefit roll numbers.

As if a government department would be so stupid as to let such a thing happen. I'm sure if it ever did the minister responsible, being an honourable man, would have resigned immediately. As I found no news of any such resignations I assumed it was a scam.

In fact it must have been because item 290184203092 is no longer available. The morale must be buyer beware.

Of course, when something as ridiculous as disk containing such information is advertised then it is easy to spot as a scam (we know our civil service would never be so culpable), but others are more tricky - which is why I avoid eBay

Because they are the only retail outlet that will rip you off!
