Big Spendors with Naim equipement

Posted by: jacques (JD12) on 09 October 2003

I don't know if it had been discussed here. Is there here anybody with somme experience with Spendor S100-SP100 or SP9 associated with Naim gear (i.e 82+S.Cap+250) ?

What is actually 2d hand price for a mint SP100 with original stands?

TIA

Jacques:

The Spendor SP100 combination with Naim amps is generally very well regarded. The very slightly laid back nature of the Spendors offsets the aggresive/forward nature of the Naim amps. A 250/82 combo should work very well.

If you do a search on the SP100's you'll see that Stallion (Marco) has a lot to say on this subject.

The sound is not exactly Flat Earth, but it does have lots of PRaT and does bass pretty well. The SP100's like a larger rooms if you want them to do scale.

Used prices for the SP100's are generally in the $1,500 to $2,000 range. The older S-100's would be a bit less. The speaker stands probably add another $100 to $150. Check Audiogon for used prices or you can use the Orion Bluebook.

Probably a good idea to trust your own ears though.

This is the second thread in as many days that may be intended to intice Marco away from his sabbatical Red Face
