Sir Granville Bantock

I have read numerous reviews of this intriguing English composer, but am unsure whether to indulge myself in his music. I am considering a 6 CD Hyperion compilaton of Bantock's various orchestral recordings conducted by the late Vernon Handley. Can anyone please comment if they are familiar with this music and its relative merits or demerits.

It's a very good set - something to dip into and enjoy. My father, who is a big fan, was most upset when I told him how much I paid for the box set considering he bought all the discs when issued.

The Celtic Symphony with orchestration for 6 harps is a personal highlight, even if there are distinct echoes of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
