Wondered if there was anyone with a nainet system having problems with the amount of traffic across the network i have an NS01 serverand i find when i have been listening to music for a while other bits of kit i.e. internet on laptop either loses connection or becomes very slow, have changed the router once on advice and it is better but still not quite right, any help would be appreciated

Contact your retailer or the custom integrator which installed the server–sounds like a router / IP address configuration issue to me.

Do you have a NaimNet system (an NS01 plus one or more NaimNet / NetStreams amps) or do you have an NS01 which you use to play music from locally?
If you have NaimNet / NetStreams amplifiers to play music through then are you using a proper NetStreams switch? If you aren't then the IGMP traffic could be being misrouted and swamping your internet / WiFi connections.
As David suggests - your first port of call should be your dealer / installer who should be able to advise better as he would know exactly how your system has been set up...
Cheers

Thank you Phil this is a problem that you are looking into for me already, had a party on saturday night and really for the first time the naimnet system was put to full use, music playing in the three zones of my house, after about three hours the network seemed to have trouble handling the traffic and i lost the playlist had to power the server down to recover the music, i know that this is frustrating for all of us but you can imagine the party going full swing and losing music. in answer to your question i do have an NS01 playing through a combination of netstreams and naim amps and have a netstreams switch, i know my dealer/installer are doing their best to resolve this issue with your help and am waiting for your return to continue the quest. Thanks

Hi!
Only found out about that problem this afternoon from your dealer - I know you have a lot of other networking kit on your network than just the NaimNet stuff and some of it is (as far as I understand) VPN'd into your office - is that correct?
Usually if the network seems to be having trouble handling traffic then it's down to the IGMP traffic being routed either out from the router to the ISP or the Wireless LAN - neither of which generally have the bandwidth for the job.
If the NS01 had to be rebooted then I suspect that something else on the network may have tried to take the same IP address (in that case the NS01 would "see" the IP address clash and revert to a fallback address till it could claim it back) - this typically would mean that the music source would stop. I assume when you say you "lost the playlist" then you simply mean that the music stopped playing rather that the playlist (and/or its music) were permanently removed from the NS01?
At the end of the day it's incredibly hard to diagnose this issues by email / forum and I'm awaiting a full diagram of what's on your network from your installer but the easiest thing to do would be to remove the network cable between the NetStreams switch and the rest of your network and see if that resolves the issue - then you can see whether it's a problem with the NaimNet setup or whether it's an interaction with something else on your network.
It *COULD* be something as simple as the NS01 being given a static IP address in the middle of your routers DHCP server range but it could also be a few dozen other things too...
Cheers
