Hi. Can anyone tell me anything about these? They look interesting to me... maybe worth a try.

Wow. Fifty+ views by the most knowledgeable sages in all of flat earth, but no ID. They must be rare indeed.

I think I'm going to try to buy them anyway. I'm down to only four sets of speakers in the household, and heaven knows that's just BARELY enough.

...is its name Jayd.

IMO, it is the best sounding speaker
Rega ever made. Also their first. A few
years back an aquaintance went to Roy
Gandy's home and he still personally
used "The Rega Speaker" with a
32/snaps/250 and a Planar2/RB100
cartridge. Apparently the sistem was
rightious.

The Rega Speaker uses close-matched
drivers which eliminates the use of
matching resistors in the crossover. The
crossover is thus very simple; only two
air-core inductors and two caps!!

The bass/mid driver and tweeter are both
made by Son Audax.

I've heard "The Speakers" before and
they sound way better than you'd expect.
Well worth the asking price. If you buy
them, I'd appreciate a review,
especially compared to a recent Rega
model! There was an official stand made
for them but it may be doubtful anyone
would know it's a Rega as it's unmarked.

I actually still have the original The
Rega Speaker brochure from circa 1981;
quote:
The Rega Speaker; a loudspeaker of exceptional musical merit.

...it's a Camber speaker that the former Canadian distributor had rebadged under the Rega brandname.

Ken,
Did you read my post above? There is no doubt this is "The Rega Speaker" for sale. The Rega Speaker was not a good seller which is why it was discontinued. Why would a distributor in Canada (or anywhere) go out of his way to copy an inexpensive product that didn't sell?

Jayd, buy the speakers fast as I believe the post above may be a ruse by Ken Lyon to distract you while he buys them!!

Designed and built in Canada with benefit of 'our' tax dollars (and corrupt logging industry) in the form of the National Research Council's anechoic chamber (reportedly used during R&D).

The giant front baffle port was nicely concealed by the chipboard framed grill providing an ideal dope stash/potpouri holder.

Camber went on to produce a range of own branded models for at least a decade.

I doubt that very many (any?) Rega Cambers ever saw the inside of the Rega factory.

Jayd,

Rega employees are canny. Email Rega with the details of the speakers - send them an html copy of the page and picture - and get the definitive answer. Bear in mind though that if you contact them around about UK lunchtime they're probably playing football...

Hope this helps and isn't too late...
