Forum Rugby Club - new season, new thread
Posted by: JWM on 03 September 2008
Well boys, new season about to start. But let's think already about the end...
Just to keep you boys keen, let's pretend for a moment it might not be another Tigers v Wasps final, let's pretend that anyone could be in it, even Glaws...
Before long we'll have the chance to book ahead for seats (whoever's in the final). Forum Rugby Club day out at Twickers? Hifi morning. Beer. Rugby (a whole row together, around the half way line). More beer. Pie. (Or perhaps a corporate tailgate party? Mark?). More beer.
There's potential in this...

You have a response. It would be good to go to the Premiership Final whoever is playing and have a bit of a drink up too.

And a response from me.

Those of us without the 'benefit' of satellite TV sport, but with Freeview, may wish to know that ITV4 has a Guinness Premership Highlights programme at 6.30pm on Sundays.
I, for one, miss Rugby Special. And I really like the final series presented from local rugby clubs. It really caught the 'culture' as well as the sport.

Well, i've kept out of it so far as I thought I'd let the usual Tigers v's Wasps banter settle down a bit. Great start for the Sharks.
I'm off to see my first game of the season tonight and we've got Glaws, so hopefully we'll make it 4 from 4. Have to say that any game I've went to watch we've not lost so long may my lucky influence continue
Definitely be up for tickets of the final no matter who it is. It be a great day out.

I have a feeling this may not end all season long! but it's all very good natured. It will be the first of a least 2 meetings this evening at Welford Rd and I for one will be there - easy to spot me I shall be the one with the Tigers shirt on! -
I think this season is going to be a very close run thing - I was at the Worcs game last weekend and they are going to be no pushover this year - Sale and Quins good starts - other teams still to find form - Bristol do look a bit out of salts - as do Northampton to be honest - however thier kicker!! beware anyone inside or just over half way!

Hard to believe that was the same two teams who contested the Premiership final just four months ago at Twickenham. That must have been the worst 40 minutes I have ever seen from a Wasps team in the first half. The second half from Tigers was not much better.
Still it was good for Wasps to get their first win of the season at Welford Rd and we'll take them however they come at the moment.
A lot of the poor play is being blamed on the ELVs at the moment but that just looked like two very poor teams to me.

Yeah, it'a hard to be triumphant when we've lost the first three games of the season.
But I'll have a go anyway

So that'll be Sale at the top of the league after our win last night. Have to say that neither team played brilliantly, but I just could not believe the lack of ambition from Glaws.....they were very poor.

It was good too see WASPS find some form - I just wish they would of found it on onther night vs another team

Sale look good at moment - Bath stuffed Worcs at home it's going to be tight at the top!!
Good highlights on ITV4 at 6.30pm
Let's hope we wake up before Northampton

A great couple of results for Gloucester this week. Wilkinson out of the game (for good?) and Wasps stuffed today. What a great week!

How pleasant!

Wilkinson; one of the MOST over-rated players of all time. It will be a most pleasant change if he never gets mentioned again.

Oh drat I just mentioned the idiot's name.

Watching that I'd hardly call what Glaws did to Wasps a "stuffing". Rather they were the only turd still floating at the end of the match. A waste of 80 minutes ....

Not sure I agree with you on that Nick to be honest - his club and England career is one most players can only dream off 1752 points for Newcastle and 976 for England! however I do accept his best days are behind him -

However you will get the chance to stamp on your England zero or pray at his walk of fame stone - yes nice marketing exercise Twikers but here are the top 60! happen to agree with most of the fans who voted - me inc

I can't disagree with No.1, but Richard Cockerill above world cup winner Mike Tindall??!!
And Richard J Hill above Richard A Hill?!!!
Richard A Hill really is a legend and should be in the top 5 in my opinion.

A bit squeaky bum for Tigers at the end there!

And Bath should have closed that game out against Toulouse. They had the lead and possession with 15 seconds left, gave the ball away and allowed Toulouse to win with a last-kick-of-the-game penalty.
