How or can I add to an Archived Topic?

Adam can you please help or offer advice?

Ms S has returned from Camp Cupcake and I can't seem to find the REPLY option on this thread.

Do threads have an Archive on date that is set so many days after last use?

Good question. I looked deep into the archives the other day for Fritz's Travel Grand Piano thread and noticed that 45 pages or so back everything has a padlock next to it. I assumed it was related to the changeover to the new system.

Because of the way threads are presented (oldest first) reanimated threads have a habit of giving a bizarre impression of progress - until you take the time to look at the posting date of the first item.

By automatically "archiving" older threads the search engine is relieved of a considerable strain and works better. The forum is quicker and these threads remain available (via search) for the information contained.

After the "use by" date has passed it is, arguably, as well to start a new discussion - fresh and tasty.
