Speakers for Apple Mac G5
Posted by: Top Cat on 09 October 2005
Hi,
I'm wondering what speakers to buy for my PowerMac G5. For various reasons I won't get into, Apple sent me a free pair of Apple Pro speakers, but these won't work with the G5 without an adaptor, which runs to another £30 or so, and also I'd have to add a Firewire hub as I don't have any free Firewire ports at the rear of the machine.
So, I plan to sell the Pro speakers on Ebay, and get something else. Lack of space prevents me from using the Nait 2 and hifi speakers which was one option, so I'm left looking at things like the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks II (£120 with sub) and the JBL Creature II speakers (£70 with sub).
I won't have a chance to audition, and I don't want to spend any more than around £100 for speakers as I've spent enough on the computer already
John
PS. For serious Logic work I'm using a head amp and my Sennheiser headphones, so the purpose of the speakers is mainly for non critical work.
