Apollo hi-fi furniture

Okay, here goes......

Let me first say that, from browsing previous topics, I just know there's going to be a load of people shouting "Get Mana......". The only trouble is, Mana is expensive, and I don't have the budget to buy their stuff now - and I need something now (or very soon).

So, has anyone used the Apollo modular range? Is it any good? It uses optional glass shelves, and each shelf is placed on upturned spikes/cones, so isolation should be reasonable.

Okay, it may not be as good as Mana, but is it a decent halfway step?

Cheers

If Mana really is too expensive, I would go for some second hand Quadraspire as it is often available quite cheaply through Loot etc. Once you have it send it to the Audio Counsel in Cheadle to have it blessed (I think this costs about 40 quid a shelf). Once suitably blessed it is the next best thing to Mana I have heard (that will wind 'em all up good style). The Larried Quadraspire is certainly different in approach than Mana, but it does work, and bizarrely does a lot of the same things well - just very differently. For the record I don't like unmodified Quadraspire. The AC mods turn it around sound wise.

Tony,

I have to admit I'm not that keen on the QS stuff, although I'll certainly investigate the Audio Counsel mod you mention. It probably has a lot to do with prejudice, because the QS tables just don't look like a hi-fi support I would design. Whereas the Mana and Apollo ones do look like designs I might have come up with (even with my limited knowledge, etc).

To be honest what I'd really like would be another extension shelf for my early '90's Sound Org table (representing minimal outlay) - then I'd start saving for the Mana equipment. Unfortunately, Sound Org stopped making that style of table years ago frown

I guess I have lots of thinking to do!

Thanks for info,
