Sistem pics 2003

Posted by: Steve Toy on 14 January 2003

Here are a few crappy pics. I've got some of Stallion's rig too, but I await his permission to post them.

I need to get the file size down. I see that we now get 50k Smile

Regards,

Steve.

Alco,

what's that under your speaker stands ?

It's a 25x30cm plate of black marble.
It's very heavy and keeps the speaker/stands sturdy and solid as a rock, since my floating laminate floor is kinda wobbly. I already had 'em for some years.
Works great and looks kinda good too imho.

Alco Smile

Hi guys,

I finally bought myself a fairly decent digi-camera today, so here are some recent (test) snapshots of my system, I took this afternoon.

Wow Alco, just goes to show what a difference a half decent shot makes (steven toy you may wish to take this as a good lesson!)

Garyi's been at the sauce again!

A friend of mine brought round his Nikon the other day and a few lenses. I'm waiting for the film to be developed and the prints scanned...

Steve.

Thanx NB Smile

The stands are Target HR60's. (sandfilled)

Alco,

The colour scheme works extremely well. I love the contrast of the black against the wood.

What type of cable are you running to the speakers?

I expected this question... Big Grin

You guessed it, it's not Naca5!
it's a 'homebrew' cable from Rinsma HiFi in Holland.
He's one of the oldest flat-earth dealers in Holland, who has quite a lot of years of experience with Naim audio.
He's using it himself in his listening rooms with Naim gear.

It's cheap, thin, easy to hide, flexible and... imho sounds at least just as good as Naca5.

Had a switch around of the front room yesterday, and a more hi-fi friendly configuration has met with the approval of my better half.

Thanks to Kevin C. for the CD3.5, Steve Elec for the Ittok, Naheed for the black SNAIC, Tom Alves for the 72 and 180, and Dave J for the SOund Org stand.

Mekon,

Isn't that Tv a bit close to your sistem?

Have you considered its effect on the sound of your sistem?

Yeah, I've considered and discussed it at length with the missus - the upshot of which is that it stays Smile.

As you can see, tiny front room (in a one bedroom flat). There isn't anywhere else practical for it. Both of us are students, so a Plasma is out of the question, and I don't have the confidence to take it apart and remove the speakers. Fingers crossed, we'll be able to get a house not too long after we graduate (next summer), so it would be daft to junk it now.

Alex,

As the owner of 'sistem most envied by the majority of the forum', are you able to post a pic?

I have the before photo's, all I have to do now is get the after photo's and I will post them on the forum (once I have worked out how to do it).

"sorry to hear of your teething troubles. Hope it all works out once it warms up."

I have every confidence that the teathing problems will sort themselves out.

I have the sistem on now (it needs all the warming up I can manage Smile) and it starting to move a litle more air!!

Tom,

As a "foot man" I would like to take this opportunity to say "whoooooooeigh" ! Eek

Very weird picture. If you were a Beatle you would have to be dead, according to your bare feet. But I guess you're not.

And what's that thing you're holding? A vcr tape?

But most remarkably it looks like a bad naive painting, with the chair and particulrly the table kind of floating out of perspective away from the carpet. Frankly the only thing that looks remotely real is the glass of wine.

Minky: isn't a footman supposed to be a kind of valet? As such you're surely not allowed to yell whoeeei?

Not only a naive painting, but a bad one at that? Shame on you, Herman!

I don't think it's bad at all. OK, so some of the proportions are off (and Tom's foot is ... well, one helluva foot), but you're allowed to do that in contemporary art.

Anyway Tom, how did you get to sit for Lucien Freud? Shouldn't your kit be off (and I don't mean 'your Naim gear powered down')?

Thomas
