Sistem pics 2003

Posted by: Steve Toy on 14 January 2003

Here are a few crappy pics. I've got some of Stallion's rig too, but I await his permission to post them.

I need to get the file size down. I see that we now get 50k Smile

Regards,

Steve.

Oh yeah - this thread reminds me - now I finally have a Naim component (rather than just cables), here's the proof...

Ignore the crappy sources - it's only a bedroom system. The Pioneer CDP isn't all THAT bad as it goes, actually Smile

Yes, I do need a new rack Smile

Oh - and this is what my headphones sit on when not in use...

David,

Are you giving your speakers cavity wall insulation or something? Wink

And pray what are those stuffed animals doing penance for, down in the corner? Or are you just a stuffed-animals sadist?

Maybe some kind of room treatment?

Makes the corner of the room a kind of a cross between a bass trap and a bear trap...possibly?

Cheers!

Richard.

Very nice, Steve.

I see you wear black socks, as well- I don't see why everyone thinks they're objectionable.

What kind of rack are those?
Posted on: 18 June 2003 by Hammerhead
Thanks, Mike.

The racks are a couple of tricked up Corras units from a certain Swedish manufacturer.. Work well though.

I only wear black socks - nothing else will do Smile

Chaps

If you wear black shoes you wear black socks.

I have sent male staff home for wearing white socks with black shoes and trousers.

Hi @ all!

After looking at all this stuff with green lights I think it's time to show something with red lights Smile :
Turntable: No3
Amp: Classic
CD: Impuls1
all from Phonosophie (former importer of NAIM Audio in Germany).
Speakers: ALR Note3, here shown on DIY stands.
Sounds wonderful, for me the earth is flat too.

Mick,

apperently you failed to notice Stevie is not wearing any shoes. All he's wearing are those socks.

FYI dark charcoal socks are the best option in any combo. Better than black.

And also never trust a man in brown shoes.

They heard the 'Super Fury Animals' were playing that night!

Steve,

How are your racks tarted up and how do they compare to the Standesign?

Also, is it acceptable to wear white sneakers with black socks? I've done it, but I recall Martin Amis describing that combo as "tragic".

My sistem, featuring the best sounding Planar 3 in the colonies.

PS anyone know how to get spraypaint off walls?

Let's pay attention. If your sock selection follows The Mick Parry Fashion Philosophy, you'll never pick up chicks or get promoted Wink. Socks should always have more in common with your pants than with your shirt or shoes.

Fashionably yours, in brown shoes...

(PS- These pics are very nice. Neil W in Durham should be featured on MTV's "Cribs".)

LoL Mike!

The room looks a lot better from when I first saw it, and I don't just mean the paint! ;-)

I was tempted to start a System pics 1983 thread but I don't quite think this pic warrants it. My speakers were usually placed conventionally but they spent a few weeks in this arrangement - I can no longer remember the reason. The system is: Ariston RD40/Mission 774LC/Ortofon VMS10;Hitachi HA280;Heybrook HB1.

My upgrading path was very stupid at this point because I was too impatient to save up for the most logical upgrades. The amplifer was the weakest link in my previous system [Dual CS505 turntable and Wharfedale Laser 40 speakers] but the only affordable plausible alternatives were the muffled, tuneless, unemotional (albeit much praised) NAD or the musical but painfully distorted Creek CAS4040. So I upgraded it last. I got the Heybrooks because the Wharfedales needed a much better amp to stop them being painful to listen to, and I knew the Heybrooks would withstand many upgrades. Then I got the Ariston because I couldn't wait another few months to afford a Rega Planar 3. And that's when things really started to go wrong...
