Sistem pics 2003

Here are a few crappy pics. I've got some of Stallion's rig too, but I await his permission to post them.
I need to get the file size down. I see that we now get 50k
Regards,
Steve.

(...on Killer Klowns from Outer Space)
Well, if you like your 80s cheesetastic horror movies done on the cheap, and then like a mock version of one of those, you're getting somewhere near! It's a lot of fun but very tacky, but the way the, err, klowns kill people is pretty cool - very varied
Plus the theme tune is an 80s fan's wet dream - pure class!!! That dodgy tremelo guitar is cool as...
Oh - and any film that has the day saved by a few dorks in a rented ice cream van has got to be worth checking out - I reckon Play.com will have it in cheap (funnily enough, they've not given it a R2 DVD release AFAIK - can't think why!)

Emeritus - Ha..You must be the only other person here that has anything to do with Mission speakers
.
I have Mission 774's in a system and Love them - in fact, after struggling with IBL's for 8 years, I finally gave up and packed up the system for 3 years as a result. I took it all out, set it up and decided the IBL's had to go. Bought a pair of Missions as a stopgap and suddenly I was hooked again. As a result I upgraded just about everything, bought hundreds more CD's etc, and all because of the Missions giving me what I missed for so long.

Has spacing out the FC2 from the Nait5 made much of a difference? If so I may have to re-arrange my (crowded) rack a bit.
Seth
Is Naim the only way forward?
Ahh, Ahh! I'm burning!!

Dunno really as I always had it seperated - but seperating the CD5 from the NAIT made a huge difference
I wouldn't have thought having FC2 and Nait in close proximity would be a good idea (preamp is sensitive and FC2 has some hefty voltages/current flying around inside). Let me know if you seperate them the difference.
Cheers,

Until I get a seperate power amp the Nait5 already has a great big working transformer in it anyway. All irrelevant in terms of spacing - I can't fit the current gear on, let alone another box.
To echo Steve Toy - Nice TT. In your other thread you mention the P3 (my current TT), have you moved up? If so how does it compare?

Moved to P25 about a week ago now. Massive improvement in my opinion.

Thanks Ferox,
well nice place but I do business as NLP-Coach, Psychotherapist and Therapist for hypnosis.
System sounds quite good. No probelm with Mana if you understand what to do.
Hermann
P.S. When ever you are in Germany drop me a mail

Here's an example of how not to site some Naim kit...
That poor Sound Organisation table was slightly over-utilized.
There's a couple of Hi_Caps stuffed behind the sofa.
Fortunately things have changed a bit now...

I am indeed honoured that Hermann has (finally) chosen to post a pic of his venerable sistem on my thread.

Marco was seriously impressed by what he saw/heard.

Steve.

(before Mr Toy tells you otherwise - well he may agree with me you never know!), IMHO you should change your rack order. I have my hi-caps at the bottom, my 160 above that, next Yamaha tape deck, then my CDX, and on top my 82. I did have my arrangement like yours, but the new order sounds better - keeps those power supplys away from the preamp.

Geoff,
Spot on!
Certainly the top shelf is currently wasted and is where the preamp should live. It's not a lid you know!

I had thought that putting the cassette in between brains & brawn would be enough, but I'll take your advice and try ordering it 82/CDX/Yamaha/250/Hi-Caps next time I'm shifting things.
The top shelf is currently vacant, but an XPS may find its way into the lower regions at some point, resulting in a shuffling upwards, at which point I'll have to find a new home for my guitar preamp and remote control (and a bowl that's found its way there too).
BTW, THe CDX, 82 and 250 sit on Stands Unique Carbon Isolators.

Paul -
Just out of interest - are the Stands Unique thingies you refer to those curved brass cones with the carbon cross shapes? I've been experimenting with those, but haven't made up my mind...

Yep - they're the ones.
They made a fairly obvious difference to me (I did some A/B tests and when I took them out the bass player went out of time), but it may be because my rack aint so great.

Alex B.,
I'm having issues with your website. The "Entertainment System" page loads but none of the objects load.

Dave,
Glad you saw the funny side
I posted a pic of my i/cs behind the kit to a chap on msn (I think he's a member here too, but I'm not too sure) and he noticed the dust on my carpet
Regards,
Steve.
