Sistem pics 2003

Posted by: Steve Toy on 14 January 2003

Here are a few crappy pics. I've got some of Stallion's rig too, but I await his permission to post them.

I need to get the file size down. I see that we now get 50k Smile

Regards,

Steve.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes indeed the plugs are Tapons, they are the dogs bollocks, no messy mains blocks, good solid copper contacts, no shitty irrelevant mains plug fuses (we are blessed by other laws down here). Here's an archive photo from James Jong's place for clarity...

Yes Jay, I have indeed lost the ES11's, sadly. The plug at the top is the Nak. The Napsc of course goes in after the stuporcap. Plugs now hidden by 'brothel curtains'.

I think today seems the day for a system spring clean, will photograph following that (lest the mainc dusters amongst you begin chanting in your pinnies again!). Smile

And Garyi's right - go on, Alco - you know you want them! SBL's - mmmmmmmm.

Are you sure, Rico? Usually I would imagine the multiple plug connections to degrade the sound, especially for the ones that come last.

You can sometimes get cheap mains blocks from B&Q (or whatever you have in NZ) which have no screw connections internally (crimped? -- sorry, I'm no handyman), reputed to be 'soncially superior' when fitted with pukka Naim mains cable.

Apart from that, those things look like something Beavis and Butthead would poke fun at ...

Here is a pic of Spike the cat enjoying a spot of Groove Armada on the briks. Somehow the cats really like deep bass and often sit right in front of the speaker when I am playing something really bassy.

The pic is a few months old. The CD rack and it's three brethren have since been upgraded to a Ikea Billy. A real hifi rack is on the cards sometime this year. Next to the fan is a 250.

cheers,
Gus

The foto was taken a few months ago. The CD rack and it's three brethren have since been upgraded to a Ikea Billy. The rack has been relocated and tidied up and a "real" hifi rack is on the cards sometime this year.

Next to the fan is a 250. It heats up quickly driving the briks in Singapore's sunny climate and needs the fan after a few hours of work. With the fan on the 250 stays suprisingly cool.

Is that a miniature Isobarik or a giant cat?

Steve,

Each tile is 40cm (16") so it's just a matter of perpective.

Hi Terence,

ehhh.... it could be my eyes getting worse (again) but.... I don't see your sistem pic...

Greetings,

Terence,

I suspect your pic was over 50kB in size.

You should be able to edit your post and re-try, once you've got a smaller pic.

cheers, Martin

It's not fair - all these lovely pics of spartan, tasteful rooms with space between system parts.

Where's the noisy toys, cars, lego bricks and general detritus of little people and the associated mayhem that goes with it Wink

Oh how I miss those days - sometimes.

Will try and get some up-to-date pics at the weekend, after a tidy up...

Hi Ferox,

Hmm, help me out... I see you've spent a fortune on Naim equipment,an LP12 and a Fraim, but to me it was quite shocking to see your speaker setup, placed on the fireplace with hardly 1 meter (about 35-inces?) between 'em...
Why's that ? Eek Roll Eyes Confused
Imho this seems like a BIG compromise, compared to the rest of the (great!) system.

You big tease! Now we see The Mother Lode (vinyl). Would-be theives may get yer system (if the attack Pirahhna don't get them first), but they are unlikely to find your cunningly concealed vinyl collection!

Alco, NACA5 is in short supply in Cornwall. Due to rationing, it's difficult to run a remote system and obtain sufficient cable to space the speakers apart. Cool

Seriously though, Ferox - great looking remote system - lovely install. Ever consider a Hydra for your mains?

I've got to try this process. Apologies to all you experts. This is supposed to be the view from my chair.
Posted on: 08 February 2003 by David O'Higgins
Of course it didn't work. I got a file size over 50k message despite the fact that the file is excactly 50k. I've reduced it to 48 and here's the second try.
Posted on: 08 February 2003 by David O'Higgins
Well I've managed to upload the Pic after a fashion. Could I have some tips from the experts for improvement the next time please
Posted on: 08 February 2003 by garyi
David I don't know if you have photo editing software,

Instead of just reducing the file size (normally by decreasing JPEG quality), try reducing the picture size first by say 50%

You won't have to reduce the quality of the Jpeg so much then.

All mine are uploaded to the web then linked to from there so are in fact about twice the size of the maximum allowed here.
Posted on: 08 February 2003 by garyi
Oh crap in chimera it only shows half your picture, I suggest you reduce the physical size of the picture to around 30% of its original size! mabye even 25%
