Sistem pics 2003

Posted by: Steve Toy on 14 January 2003

Here are a few crappy pics. I've got some of Stallion's rig too, but I await his permission to post them.

I need to get the file size down. I see that we now get 50k Smile

Regards,

Steve.

Hello Garyyi. Thanks for your response. I thought your earlier pics in this thread were great. I took my photo at the 'middle' resolution level with an Ixus and I then used the Zoombrowser software wizard to 'send an image by email'. So far as I recall, I reduced the image to 70% and selected medium resolution for the compression process.

Can you describe what you did for your excellent pics ?

When I get the process right, I will of course upload the 'real' picture (52/Scap/CDS2/XPS/Headline/2*Hicap,Prefix/LP 12/ Ekos/NAT 03/135*2, Aavik, Nordost Points, Mana etc.)

Looking forward....

David.

I have found it best to take the pictures at high resolution, mine tip the balance at around 3 megs.

I then use photoshop to touch them up, I reduce the physical size of the picture to 25% by unchecking resample it then reduces the file size.

Finaly there is a save for web option, which in essence is saving a Jpeg, only at this stage do I reduce the quality of the image to around 80%

If you have a copy of adobes photodeluxe software which comes with various things such as cameras you may get more luck, I must confess to having a large aversion to PCs so have no idea what Zoombrowser is but its sounds like some two bit propriatry software?

I am also using a digital SLR as recommended by Vuk, and I would guess this is helping a lot, the pictures were taken by remote control to insure no wobbles etc.

For your image there you have missed the balance between JPEG quality and physical size, if you reduce the physical size of that very picture by 50% or more, before saving it as JPEG you will get a much better result.

Rubbish light = rubbish pic.

Better than nothing though...

Andrew I thought the point of the fancy swanky remote was to do away with the others, or are they still breeding?

Its a bit shite on record, no bass.

Might just be because I don't really llike it though, not heard it on CD, whats it like Andrew?

Could be something else wrong in the chain Gary? At the risk of looking like a complete "geek" I actually have both vinyl and CD copies (couldn't resist that cover I'm afraid!) and they sound fairly comparable.

Andy - nice looking plinth, mate! I expected to see rather more super-SNAPS in evidence than the one shown in the pic.

Jay - is that the latest Lemonjelly album? Best you bring that along as well when you come to visit!

Timeless black - I must confess I'd buy a different colour today, but at least it matches the Mana...

There's 3 SNAPS PSU's on that rack (feeding Prefix / 112 / CD5) - that's one of the good things about them - they're discrete Wink

I've got them under control (there's more elsewhere!!!), just haven't started the cull yet (and I've not completed programming some of them yet - too lazy).

I was thinking of inviting Mr Parry over, and sticking them in a clay pigeon launcher for sport Smile

I still prefer KY at present, but it's growing on me - no shortage of bass though.

That will be Lewis, my 3 year old - he takes great delight in playing with the Tuner, and the transformer is the other end of the box, hence it slides around a bit...

God you guys are observant!

Andy.

Your modest system looks great in/on that small wooden rack Sean. (even though I kinda dislike your wallpaper Roll Eyes Wink )
I'm sure it doesn't sound modest at all.
What kind of speakers are you using ?

Alco Smile

RichardN,

Where can I find out everything there is to know about those speakers of yours?

They look great. Has there been a previous thread?

I use Mission 780 speakers, 10 years old now but work very well with the Nait.

I also love the old Mission 760 & 780's!
A Nait-2, Rega Planar-3 and a pair of Mission 760's got me into the Naim world, some years ago.
In fact, the Mission 760 is one of the best speakers I ever heard on the end of a Nait.

Imbalance

Isn't that a 72 and that the source selector switch - or are you deaf in your left ear?
Posted on: 12 February 2003 by BigH47
Dobbin yes it is a 72 yes left is the volume. It is on tape 2 which I use for the Arcam Xeta2 it has the vidoes/satellite etc and has its own volume control(remote) general listening backgroud etc goes through it. Normal(NAIM) listening has the xeta turned off and 72 volume reset at a higher(joking) lower level.
