Last Night of the Proms

I watched this last night. Hadn't bother for the last 3-4 years, but thought I would give it another go.
What on earth possessed them to replace the Hornpipe with that new arrangement. The audience seemed completely bemused, and didn't join in until told to do so.
The Elgar, Arne and Parry were up to the mark, but I think the rot set in a few years ago when they stopped doing the "Fantasia on British Sea Songs". All for the sake of change. Why? The last night (to me) has always been about audience participation, and the old, familiar pieces are great for this.
