if the outlet is out of reach

I’d like to use a better wall outlet but it’s out of reach of my Naim 6-way-2m-distributor. Twice as long would be OK, or using two of them in tandem. Anybody with experience on that field?

for I did not find the proper word in English. (You know I keep translating.) It’s about the extension cord with a 6-way block on one end and a plug on the other.
My problem and query keeps existing.

Graphoman,
Time has come for a dedicated AC line near your equipment.
Or, if you have skills in electricity (and only if you have), change your distributor's power cord for a longer one.

How about an Audio Counsel block with a lead of the correct length.
My experiments indicated the block into a ring main to be about on par with the dedicated spur.
Of course both spur and block is better still

Bosh,
How can you say so. What ring length? what other appliances on it? how many sockets?
If you have a PC, air conditioner or fridge on the same ring even the best block of the world can't compeete.

it’s a matter of fact I had built (via good electricians) a proper, dedicated, separate spur for Hi-Fi, controlled by the best posssible fuse type(s). I have used that spur for years till I’ve realised that it sounded terrible and using the most common outlet in the room gave a much better result.
(I kept the dedicated spur just to demonstrate it for friends. It used to be a very effective demonstration!)
Unfortunately, to reach that other outlet (the common one) I have to lead the mains cable before a door, under the carpet and it’s rather uncomfortable. Now I’d like to try another one and it would be possible with a Naim extension cord of a length of 4m or by doubling the extension cord.
So, the question is whether to have 2m cable less inside the wall and 2m more in the room. But it’s not as simple like that. They are different because the cable running inside the wall are solid core with single insulation while all the extension cords are multi-stranded and have double insulation. That’s my query.
As for the makes of the extension cord I have absolutely no dilemma. I want to stick to the Naim gear.

Hi graphoman:
Did your dedicated spur also have a dedicated ground? If not, that's likely a factor in your disappointment, although why a separate spur should *ever* sound inferior is an enigma.
Best Regards,
Mark Dunn

no, neither of the outlets have a dedicated ground. But the dedicated spur has a better one.
