The Kraftwerk Variations

Kraftwerk. You know. Mmmmmm. Wasn't it? Drum-machines as goalposts.

Sorry. I seem to have lost 6 years of my life somewhere.

What I wanted to ask was, does anyone know which (if any) of the Kraftwerk albums, post 'Autobahn', are 'different' in their German release formats? German language vocals etc? Or were they all recorded with English language vocals? (Unlikely, I would have thought)

I'm thinking of getting some of the original German vinyl pressings. Any pointers?

There are different language versions of Trans-Europe Express, The Man-Machine and Computer World.

There are German versions of all these, and (I seem to remember reading) a Spanish version of one of them - but maybe I imagined the latter.

I don't have any of these but have heard The Man-Machine in German, and it's well worth getting. The songs have a distinctly different feel in German - particularly "Die Roboter-r-r-r" and "Das Modell".

Tim.

There is something intrinsically right about german language vocals with the cool motorik electronic beat of Kraftwerk and thier successors. Die Roboteer is a good one.

Other examples that work well, from different ages are

Deutsch Amerikan Freudscraft - 3rd & 4th LPs

Anthony Rother - Simulatanizieter
Anthony Rother - Die Macht

Dr. Walker & Electro Atomu - Die Stricherjunge (mit der raucherlunge)

(Please forgive the rather shaky german spelling, but you get the idea)
