Memory Card Readers

Does anyone know if the memory card readers sold for use with SD cards etc will operate with Windows XP without any additional software being installed on the computer ? I want to be able to access an SD card on a machine at work, where I am not able to install additional software. If I just plug the reader and card into the USB, will it appear as a supplimentary drive ?

You won't need to install drivers when using a memory card reader with XP. It will appear as an extra drive.
