Heres a good one that should start you thinking.

Mine has to be "All along the watchtower" by Hendrix.

I thought JH lifted his cut from the Tim Rose version, TR being the fist person to slow it down from it's usual frenetic playing speed.

All along the watch tower was the track that came to mind when i read the header, but Dave Edmunds reading of The Sabre Dance has to come a close second.

Yes!

Also a brilliant version of 'Personal Jesus'

I totally agree on Hendrix 'All Along the Watchtower'. This may be the definitive cover as most people think it is his originally.

Mark,

Another thumbs up for JC's version of Personal Jesus, absolutely brilliant.

As well as the Hendrix version of "All Along The Watchtower", I've always been taken by the version by XTC from their first album "White Music".

Regards

Nic
