Snow Patrol - Eyes Open

A few people seem to have mentioned buying this, but no-one has commented on the record (that I can find).
I think it's an excellent album and superior to Final Straw in lots of ways - the vocals and lyrics are more accomplished and the music much more varied and well performed. Some very hummable tunes and beautifully produced too. "Make this go on forever" is an amazing song, and the one that follows it, with Martha Wainwright, is very good too. I like the (northern) Irish lilt in the singer's voice very much.
Of the crop of new-ish brit bands I think Snow Patrol may have the greatest staying power (I do like the Editors record though). Coldplay display some excellent musicianship but whassisname's sanctimoious celebrityness and irritating falsetto just pisses you off after a while (about two listens) I find.
The vinyl pressing of Eyes Open is very good and they appear to have taken rather more trouble than most about transferring the (good) artwork to gatefold LP format.
Thoroughly recommended - if you like that sort of thing. Oh, and they used to be called Polar Bear...
