Torque the DBLs screws........

Posted by: Onthlam on 23 August 2003

Can anyone offer the best wrench to buy at Home Depot?
What are the torque settings for the Drivers in the DBLS?

Has anyone put on paper "how to" optimize the suspension for the tweeters?

Thank you,

Marc

I'd like to reset me tweeters too. I replaced them a year ago, but didn't replaced the glue which stops the heavy wires bending the tweeter terminals, so I suspect that they are not bouncing 100% correctly.

A photographic step by step in the Cavendish-Woodhouse style would be very helpful!

Best wishes,

Mickey

Its been a day day since the torque and 3 full days back on since our storms..

I am pleased with the results.

More in tune(and tighter) bass and midrange. Easier to understand more of the lyrics.

Worth the money spent on the wrench...

I am sending the wrench off to Dr. Ron Toolsie.
If anyone would like it after him, do not hesitate to ask...
The wrench is setup with the correct 4mm bit and is locked in at 3.72....
Of cource, you can make your own adjustments to the torque settings.......

Marc

She asked for a Grand piano.
All I could give her was an upright organ...

A quick plea regarding the tweeter bounce.

Has anyone got any more info on this subject yet?

I really want to sort out my tweeter plates, but I'd like a little hand-holding first.

BTW, can any comment whether the plates are supposed to be flat, or bent outwards slightly. Mine are bent forwards by a fair amount.

Also, how tight should the screws/grommets be done up when the plates are replaced?

cheers, Martin

Marc,

BTW, the correct setting is 3.6nm (3.61 on your wrench).

Martin,
I did mine to the 3.72...
If I remember the 3.61 is the lowest it goes...
Who had the wrench before you??
Ron was telling me and The only thing I remember was the good results that were achieved.(Wow,that sounds self serving).
Have fun with and report back...

Who gets it after you???

Marc,

It was me who had the torque wrench before Martin, for one day only! I'm off to work for three weeks so thought it better to send it on prompt. I did not adjust the torque setting at all from how it was recieved from Ron, I just took it as being set at the correct fugure.

Whatever the setting it made a big difference to the sound, well worth doing. So thanks a lot for your kind and generous offer.

Many thanks.

Sean.
