Digital cameras

Apologies, as this has probably been asked before quite recently (but a quick search didn't show anything terribly recent).
The last couple of weeks I have missed not owning a camera and was thinking I should pick up a cheap digital one. It doesn't need to be the last word in quality (as I'm not a serious photographer) and I suspect if my phone had a half decent one that would be enough for me (it doesn't have any).
My criteria are ideally under £100 and needs to work okay with my mac (which has firewire and USB1 but not the faster USB2).
Any recommendations appreciated.

Consider a Sony K800i phone.
Decent camera for snapshots and a good phone to boot.

Thanks, but I'm actually very happy with my phone - nokia e61, which does everything else I want brilliantly.

dpreview has loads of reviews and information. I found it very helpful before I bought my small Canon Ixus II which I'm very happy with.
cheers

Tam,
I think that only the more upmarket cameras will have a Firewire port. Whether this is a big deal or not depends on how many pics you take at a time, and how big each one is (this latter os a function of the resolution and compression you select).
If you think download speed via USB1 is going to be too painful, you could get a Firewire card reader.

My in-laws recently bought a Samsung D75 for about £70 from Argos. It's got 7mpixel res, 3x optical zoom, + digital zoom, a 2.5" screen, its small, light& easy to use. It only has a small internal memory, but they got an sd card for another fiver which gives them plenty of storage. I really can't see the need for anything else, if holiday/family snaps is your criteria.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
In the end I've ended up with an Ixus (slightly different model number though) and it seems to do more than I need. USB only, but I don't think that'll be a huge problem (given the number of photos I'm likely to be taking at any one time). And if it does, I could always add USB2 to my machine (something I'll have to do anyway if I ever want to get a newer iPod).
My only gripe - my now slightly old mac only has iPhoto 2 (which has been much improved), but if I want the new version, I can only get it by buying iMovie, iWeb, Garage Band and iDVD too (none of which I need). Which seems infuriatingly inflexible.

Try to steer clear of iPhoto. It makes a total mess of folders, spreading files left, right and centre. Use your own folder/filing system for better control.
