receipts A RANT.

WARNING-A RANT IS TO FOLLOW
ijust had a reminder that i should keep every recept for every item i buy for 12 month's, i probably new that already, but after this morning whilst trying to take back a £80 pair of golf shoes back to our local JJB store in Wigan, i now know i have to.
Before i took them back i emailed Footjoy to make sure that the shoes were indeed last year';s model, i knew i'd bought them at the end of March last year( 1 week before my season started)but just wanted it confirmed by Footjoy.
I got a quick and polite reply from Footjoy saying that if i take them back to the store i'd bought them from then they would arrange an uplift to get them inspected.
When i told the till worker this and then the same story to her manager he totally dismissed any idea of them being looked at and that Footjoy had mis-informed me. I replied that the leather really should not be flakeing after 11 month's and also given the fact that i have not played since October, they have probably only been worn about 20 times, not exactly value for money.
At this point everything was calm, and then when i asked for his name so i could let JJB's head office know who i had spoken to he refused, several attempts later all i could get from him was " i'm the only manager here, they'll know who you mean".
I then told him that untill he gave me his name, i would wait at the beginning of the tills and ask everyone to make sure that they kept the receipt so they did not have the same trouble as me, now looking back, that wasn't much of a threat but i'd said it so i had to do it.
he then told me that he would remove me from the store to which i added that he really shouldn't touch me at all, 25 mins later and he finally gave me his name and i left.
i know this is a long winded rant, but sometimes you just have to get things of your chest.

That has nothing to do with receipts and everything to do with an extremely poorly trained manager.

When our kettle began to leak we took it back to John Lewis 8 months after purchase, no recipt. They checked there systems to see what we had purchased and before we knew it we could swap out for a new kettle or use the money in store.

Training is everything.

A pity, AL4N, that you weren't able to whip out a cellphone with camera and take a snap of the cretin.

AL4N, I think it is good to publicise it - you deserve better service than you got. It is amazing that JJB have a manager who is so poor. A good retailer will turn a customer's problem to his advantage, by sorting out the problem and sending the customer away happy. I wouldn't expect this manager to last long with the attitude you describe.

"Every satisfied customer tells 8 people. Every dis-satisfied customer tells 20 people".

Regards,

Willy.
