Where did (does)a snaps stand in the order of power supplies?? Closer to a flatcap or a hicap? Also the snaps I am looking at was recently upgraded to a duel-rail setup. What exactly is this upgrade?..thanx, sam

Hi
Dual railed + recapped(new capacitors--as even the newest are >10yrs old)Snaps is about as good as a flatcap.--some believe a little better--it has a bigger transformer--but either way not much in it.
Neither are as good as a hicap of course.
An orig snaps goes for ~£70-100(snaps dualrailed + newly serviced and recapped should go for a little more--flatcap £150--£200
You can power 2 items off the newer flatcap2(v few s/h)

Your profile doesn't say your country of origin so the prices may not be relevant---
Do you come from deep space 9?--only kidding.

Everyone who has compared on the forum has preferred the snaps, and a correspondent of mine also preferred the snaps (not recapped, either).

No one has spoken up here who preferred the flatcap, as far as I know. It is certainly tremendously undervalued on the market.

In my opinion,a Dual Railed,Re-capped Snaps (Snaps2) is significantly better than a Flatcap.

Using an arbitary scale (based on my own findings)

Hi-Cap = 10
Snaps2 = 8
Flatcap= 5

Again in My opinion,the Snaps2 is closer to the Hi-cap than the Flatcap.

I would say that the regular SNAPS is about 70% of a Flat-Cap, while a dual-railed SNAPS2 is about 110% of a Flat-Cap. In comparison, a Hi-Cap is about 200% of a Flat-Cap, and a Super-Cap is probably 500%.

Would a snaps be a better supply for a Headline than a NAPSC?

Are there different versions of snaps available?

Cheers

It's a little more consistent, but I'm still getting the occasional dive in performance (i.e. the 15-minute blip). I'm convinced that it's something like a freezer or equivalent on the "same" line. However, it's sounding good enough that I can live with it until I move from my apartment into my house in May. (I'm also too busy to worry about it at the moment; I would rather listen to music that spend my sparse spare time tracking down a minor power glitch.)
