Light In The East

Walking to work at dawn this morning, can any of you astronomy buffs tell me what was the large bright star in the South East of the dawn sky? Rather beautiful.

Usually - Venus (a planet).

You might be able to check on Google Earth - View - Switch to Sky. This gives you the night sky from your present location.

Not heading towards the holy land is it?

Thanks, I thought it might be Venus.
I hope it was not heading towards the holy land. 43 years a devout athiest, wouldn't my face be red?

I thought Venus was Shocking Blue.
