I just board my windows up and paint 'Paedo Scum' on my door. Does the trick a treat!

I used to hate Haloween and would be a real grump. But the children really enjoy it, so we light a pumpkin and dish out sweets to any children that call. We know most of them anyway and it's really quite fun.

Why not just join in; life's too short to be grumpy, and it's only one evening of the year after all.

House decorated, treats ready and the children all excited. Let the Halloween fun begin.

PS: This is not the decoration on my house, didn't have that much energy - just a Pumkin Man and a few Witches.

At times it can get real scary ...

It's not so much the grumpy old man thing, it's more about the Americans Disneyfying an ancient festival and the British just lapping it up and re-importing it big time as another excuse to spend money at Tescos. Halloween isn't observed for what it is/was, it's just a ritual of chucking out some more cash.

Used to be this time of year was about the excitement engendered by the throwing of a few more Catholics on the fire. It's just not the same anymore.

Halloween arts & crafts from my little son.

Don't get me wrong. I love kids, love fun and don't have a problem joining in with stuff. I think it is very cynicaly constructed and marketed though. As for the grown up involvement, this just leaves me wondering about issues of human dignity.

Ha...don't worry I'll get over myself. Good job were all different eh.

Hope you enjoyed your Halloween everyone.

Hear, hear.

It's just another commercial catchpenny. There's no real meaning to it, just another way of making money.

Today is All Souls Day, and in some countries this a reason for laying candles at memorials to the dead, which strikes me as a nicer phenomenon than celebrations of witches and gouls ...

A photo taken in Warsaw four years ago today, at the memorial to the "Child Soldier," near the Stare Miasto, when staying with Frank F.

... along the same lines there is the Day of the Dead in Mexico which can be traced back to the indigenous cultures more than 2 to 3 thousand years ago. Quite an event to witness.

A True Blue Halloween Horror Story

Baroness Frankenstein Thatcher,
a.k.a. - The wicked witch of Westminster,
has escaped from Azkaban High Security Hospital for the criminally insane.
Breaking out of a strait jacket and padded cell she was last seen exiting thought a sixth floor window on her broomstick. Frightening the living daylights out of West Londoners she flew off in the direction of her Transylvania castle.

Thatcher, who died back in 1990 due to multiple stabbings in her back at number 10 Downing Street, has been living on as the undead ever since.

“We tried to put her to rest with a stake though the heart”, said Dr. Hammer at the Hospital, “ and at the time we got a phone call from Hell, and a bloke called, Denis said it wouldn’t work because she never had a heart in the first place”!

depends on who the witch is, of course .... some witches are quite nice

Still on Friday we celebrate my favourite parliamentarian the great late Sir Guido Fawkes. what a great Guy.

Lewes is the place to be on Friday - wonderful - I went in November 1994, the main effigies burnt in Lewes were Margaret Thatcher, John Major and Michael Howard - I suspect they still burn old MT, but add TB, GB and possibly even BO.

Is that really true? Sounds spot on.

I just hate Halloween, even as a kid I hated trying to do a costume. It's ramped up now to an unbelievable stage and being in LA Day of the Dead is big in Latino culture. I don't watch even Turner movies of old horror flicks, but we had the twin evil of elections over here. Thank gawd I have a turntable and netflix rentals.
