CJ Lambertsen. My mother did SCUBA in the 1970s! amazing really, so I found a book on it she gave me. US military connection etc.

Who first described the theory of Digital PCM signal processing?

George

Yes George. Dr C Lamberstein coined the acronym SCUBA whilst working for the US Navy, his underwater breathing device did not work well until Cousteau and Dumas invented the regulator assembly which allowed much deeper dives.

Dear Howard,

Thanks. The little book made no reference to Cousteau and Dumas, of course being before their time ...

Hardly it was 1943. C Lamberstein 1939.

BTW the word "Aqualung" is patented by the Cousteau/Magnan company.

My earlier post should have said Emile Gagnan (not Dumas) and Jacques Cousteau.
