SL2 in latest Hi-fi News.

A very favourable report by Jonathon Gorse ending with 'world-class timing and damned -near NBL levels of scale. Very highly recommended.'
Btw, tested with CDS2, 552, 250 and Michel Gyrodec. What a rough life his must be!

Thought he'd been a bit quiet lately... Still, pilot training and a nacsent career in audio journalism wouldn't leave much forum time...

Many congratulations Jonathan, if it's you (must be -- the Gyro's a dead giveaway). smile

Best;

Mark

Whilst Jonathan Gorse's review is well written I think it a shame they didn't give Martin Colloms a go at it. MC has reviewed many of Naim's key products in the past, including the SBL and NBL, and letting him do it at least would have given the review some context. MC might have also been a little more objective - I'm yet to spot a single negative remark in JG's review! (or is the SL2 really that good?)

Tony, I must admit that HIFI reviewers tend to have a 'Cozy' time of it, weighing up all the latest Techo-fab wizz bits big grin but, why 'o' why do they always waffle on so confused ,anyhow, the new SL2 Humm, I chanced a good 30 minute listen at the Manchester show, the sound was actuly quite good cool but the SL2's unwhelming I felt, and a touch dear red face at around the five thousand pounds mark eek In my humble estimation of course.

Mark,

Tis indeed me! and to answer the question yes the SL2 are 'that' good which made it great fun to do!

I haven't started the pilot training yet - I'm still seeing how far the writing thing takes me and generally spending far too much time playing music and films!

Unfortunately Naim 'remembered' I had the 552 so I'm back with my 102 now, but for two months I enjoyed a taste of the high life!

Incidentally, there has been discussion of covering a 'serious' Naim owner/system in the magazine so if there are any volunteers email me and I will put you forward. Joel Benford would have been an obvious choice but I have been unable to reach him.

Jonathon's review of some Quad amp mods in HFN reminded me of his thread about ducking out of the rat race. Nice one!

Good article about the Ninkas too.

Joel has been abducted by aliens, but I volunteer myself and my sistem. I'm up for it. My only problem is that I am not that serious.

Dev,
How about roping Jawed into doing it? You know how "sensitive" he is about his system...;)

I vote for Jawed as well. I want to read someone from a hi-fi mag trying to rationalise the idea of someone spending £20k on a hi-fi to play sounds of static recorded by a man with a microphone on top of a mountain in Norway and then saying "I didn't really understand this track until I got the 135s"

The only problem is that his sistem doesn't sound that great at the moment frown

But as he lives round the corner from me we could do a 'tale of two sistems'

Dev,

Well done for the subtle reminder that around here we have 'sistems' not 'systems'. I hope the mags will pick up on the error of their ways and adopt appropriate spelling and use of exclamation remarks!!

David!

Dev,

Happy to put you forward for an article - can someone get Jawed to get in touch - and Joel too if poss - I'm presuming he's still in Hangar 18!

A simple note with system details will suffice so I can put you forward to Editor Harris.
