Looking for advise on where to buy DVD's
Posted by: Chris Brandon on 01 December 2001
I am just about to aquire a DVD player from a work colleage.(offered it to me at a good price)
I am looking for advise on where to buy DVD's from at "decent" prices. (something along the lines of what www.cd-wow.com does for ordinary music cd's).
Any recommendations ?
Regards
Chris
Eventually I may end up going down the purchase route from a DVD specialist.

Our local library stocks a rather large collection of (mostly current) DVD's!
You can hire them for £1.80 a week and upto 3 at a time too.
Check it out - y'never know?

You need to find a region comparison site.
Dave,
Would you care to recommend one. I've not really considered this regional variation yet.
So far I get the impression that most DVDs are anormorphic and its the responsibility of the DVD player to re-format that if you need to view on a 4:3 TV. Most discs also seem to be at least 5.1 Dolby Digital.
It all seems a far cry from the days of renting/buying films on VHS where widescreen formats and HiFi/Surround soundtracks were the exception found only on special editions.

I use them frequently and have had no problems whatsoever...

I have used "dvdboxoffice" in the past and always found it a good service. Obviously most of the disks are R1.
