I noticed that the thread on the holocaust was deleted as I was responding to the original issue which was posted.

I have to say that I am disappointed as I think it is an important topic.

I'm not sure why moderators continue to handle threads that "get out of control" by removing them instead of deleting the posts of the unreasonable participants and putting those involved on probation or removing them from the forum entirely.

While I understand wanting to be lenient and tolerant if someone crosses the threshold they need to be warned or removed. It really should be fairly cut and dry.

the thread was not deleted. I responded to the OP's request to prune it back to where it went off-topic. When I do this, it's best to take it off-line, otherwise members may try to post during the clean-up and it gets messy.

TBH I think that the trolling displayed by one poster is really poor. Doing so on a thread about the Holocaust is inexcusable.

Can we drop the playing about with such a serious subject. We can jape about directionality of cables, Wodka, my spelling. Anything, but not History, at least where it is not disputed ...

Oh well, I muight as well have my say then - personally I thought the collapse into abuse and abbreviated swearing where none had been offered was in extremely poor taste and rather sad.
