The reason I would never use eBay is because I cannot see why this should be a fraud! I supoose other people know what to look for...

It is probably very simple...

if you look at sellers name it has DEVIL in it !
could be a clue. Cool

Earlier today I was looking at this seller's listing for a CDX2.

Other than the "Please dont use "Ask seller a question" features" comment, I couldn't see any reason to doubt the seller's integrity.

Graeme, perhaps you could explain why you have your doubts about this eBayer.

Given that I don't believe in such things, I would happily sell my soul for a cheap CDX2 Winker.

That comment is one of the reasons it's an obvious scam, along with a fixed price in Euros.

Just like to add to HH's comments that the reason he says "Please dont use Ask seller a question" is because he's using someone else's account and you'll be contacting the original seller of the 135's and he'll be found out. If you ever see the above quote report it to Ebay its definitely a scam.

He has 7 pages of stuff and it is all €1450.

I want the massive camper and the speed boat!!

This is a very poor scam, but a good read.

Beyond "Don't use 'Ask seller a question'", what are the other danger signs to look out for? Would be interested to know, as I, like Fredrik, am put off e-Bay (for expensive items) because of the fear of fraud.

Now removed I see.

Things to look for include:

Price in dollars but 'located' in London (usually).

Seller with little or no feedback.

Primarily - no ability to contact seller through Ebay.

Gaudy graphics and poor English grammar/syntax.

etc etc.

If you're thinking of buying on Ebay, it also pays to look at the site regularly. Here's a nac52/supercap for sale here

Oviously the zero feedback should ring alarm bells, but here's a nac52/supercap which sold only a few days ago here

Looks familiar doesn't it!

screw ebay - although i've successfully purchased aduio equipment there, i stay away generally, use audiogon. even that site is no longer free of scams, but its feedback system is pretty tight. it's human nature at work - wherever there's money, the crooked soon follow.
