110 plus Dynaudio 42 or 52 or 1.1
Posted by: fatcat on 18 November 2003
I have a Mantra/Musician/DL103/62/PSU/110. (plus Rotel 965 Descrete).
I have listened to a pair of Dynaudio 52SE which I really liked. However I have read that 52s are difficult to drive.
Has anybody used 52s, 42s or 1.1s with a 110. Would a 1.1 be to good for my other equipment.
Note I listen a quite low volumes.

The 42's can easily be driven by the 110. The 52's can be driven by the 110, although it may find them a bit hard work. Forget the 1.1's unless you intend to buy a 250. The 110 will not like trying to drive them.

Totally agree with Frank on the 1.1's
I have a pair of 1.1's and I love them, they sure are small but the sound is massive, even the bass shakes my room (and thats in a 25ft x 14ft space !!)
BUT they need a powerfull amp, I orginally had them on a 180 and it was fine until about 9/10 on the loume then it fell apart rapidly. I now run them through a 250 and that has made ALL the difference. They are likly to be last on my upgrade path (having recently upgraded to a CDx +82(2xHi)+250.
Anyhow forget them with a 110, you need more power (well current anyway)
