Happy New Year, Mike.
My wish is to be in work in 3 weeks time so I can buy a new house (and sneak in an XPS).
(Risky business IT Contracting these days...)

A decent Lotto win would be nice to compensate for all the money I spent in 2003.
God help me if Naim really does bring out the "killer" DVD player, a Sub-woofer and a the VS2 Video switch /syncer.

Mmmm
I should get the 282 and XPS2, but hopefully (and with permission from she who must be obeyed) I might also achieve a 250mk2 later in the year as well..

World peace and 3 points for Forest would be most welcome. Don't be silly? Just the world peace then.

Nothing. I'm happy as it is. Unless you're sending me them Kabers.
We've bought a new place (well, an old one, natch), and we're moving in April, and that will keep us busy for awhile.

Hi Mike,
Happy New Year!
On my wish list for 04 are either a Stageline MM + Hi-Cap to give the Nait something to really sharpen its teeth on, or
a 82/Hi/140 to (oh heresy!) replace the poor Nait 3.
In both cases I'd also have to get some extra Mana.
Have fun!

World Peace, of course!
In the "paling into insignificance" category, maybe a new cartridge. I've just found Ryan Adams 'gold' on vinyl, so am happily playing that.
Wha upgrade? I fell into the cauldron last year - I'll live vicariously for a while, reading of everone elses. Cheers!

Rico,
Have you dug through to Whiskeytown yet ? "Stranger's Almanac" on hi-rotate at the moment. I wore out the sectors on my iPod hard-drive with "Pneumonia" on them a while ago. One more to get (can't remember what it's called but it has to be good). The man is a fackin genius.

Not yet Minky (and happy nooyah BTW), although have heard plenty of it, and intend adding mucho to the collection as time and fundage permits. Rugrat seems to dominate much of time at this stage, little to be spent in rekkid shops.
Also found Metallica 'load' and the black album on new vinyl $12.95 each, sweet. I guess that's one good thing one can say about Palmerston North, eh?

Hermy! Congratulations on your new house! I already liked the one you are living in right now. We are looking for something like that in Utrecht, but that's really hard. We will succees however this year!

BTW How do you like the Epos speakers?

My realistic wish list for 2004 has a Naim cdp at the top. I've put away enough pennies for a CD5 and need to do a serious demo soon to see if a CDX2 is worth the extra cash (assuming, of course, that I somehow could come up with the extra cash). Then, the saving will begin again, with perhaps a NAT 05 or a Hi-Cap2 in the offing for late 2004/early 2005. Plans, plans ....
Best wishes for a Happy New Year.

I'd like to get another 140 so I can start using the IXO I've had lying around for a year or so.

Happy noooooyeah to you too Rico. Where in Palmy I'm off there tomorrow
Oh, the thread, right...well I need to find a buyer for my 180 so I can afford the 250 that's been sitting in my sistem for a month or so

“I am completely stoked with the E-IIIs, but isn't there always a better mousetrap to be built? Unfortunately, satisfaction is always inversely proportional to motivation; to action, that is.”
Hey James, let me get my E III’s up and runnin before they’re superceded!
Happy 2004

“Mr T,

Great thanks, I’ve now got a pair of ‘skeleton cabinets’ completed and am about to start on the front baffles. I’ll be posting a proper update tomorrow...

The one and only item in my setup that I really want to upgrade/change is my Rega P3.
It's a great, fun, turntable, that is seriously good VFM, considering the performance you get for the money; but ultimately it is somewhat crude and lacking in sonic sophistication. I've considered the various upgrades/modifications to the table, but I think that rather than go down that route I'd be better saving up for a completely new table.
What I'd really like to get is something like a Nottingham Analogue Spacedeck or Hyperspace, or possibly an Origin Live deck, Rega P9, or perhaps even a s/h LP12 or SME table.
And of course, a really decent outboard phono stage to go with the table.
None of these seem at all likely for the forseeable future though! So perhaps better make it 2005 or 2006...
John.
I had a P3 and upgraded to an Origin Live Ultra Kit Classic - best move i ever made - you wont regret it especially as you can use the arm and cart off the P3

Got a few things I thinking of but shouldn't really buy....
An XPS2 for my CDX2
A Naim DVD player (btw, it's reputed to be able to take an external power supply)
Either 2 Hi-caps or a Supercap for my 282.
Who says a mortgage is the major part of one's salary expenditure?
Steve.

“No worries on that front, Mr Tibbs. If that 'ambition' ever comes to pass (can't be faffed right now the music's so good), I still have a couple of other loudspeaker projects that will have to come first since I already have drivers gathering dust.”
Ah good... (wipes sweat off brow)
“It's funny how quickly one accumulates drivers in this hobby ...”
James, you seem to have more drivers lying around than Tiger Woods.
Keep up the good work!

“Having fondled your very own new drivers, you must agree that there is something perversely pleasurable in examining the innards of beautifully made drivers, no?”
Yes... But I’d rather be looking at them from my favourite armchair as Robben Ford dives into the solo of his cover of Claptons ‘Badge’ on his new CD ‘Keep on Runnin’.
“The new Scan-speak 26W woofer is something to behold, isn't it?”
Practically begging to be bought isn’t it?

Has to be the XPS2 for the CDX2 if the various builders / plumbers / decorators that I've been haemorrhaging cash to don't get to the bottom of my wallet first...

An integrated amp with headphone socket to replace the pre/power amp and speakers that I'm going to sell as soon as I can bring myself to call my dealer!
