I currently have a chrome 250 and an olive one. It'd be nice to upgrade them to the new 250. Based on what I've read on the Forum it's quite a significant difference. I was going to go from XPS to XPS2 but that will go on the back burner. Seems like the amp upgrade will be a very day and night difference. Anyone disagree or have reservations about this? Happy New Year (still)!!

Rich

ps current sys: 2X250's, snaxo 242 w/hi-cap, 252, supercap2, CDS2, XPS, SBL's (late model). Waiting for my P500 from PSAudio.

I don't - even if my salary was multiplied x10 I'd not be able to buy anything worthwhile now in the UK market; my rent's about half what a mortgage on something liveable would be... ...and I'm no longer whingeing about it. Because now I can spend all my cash on music and hifi and not ever bother saving again, since the market won't go back down by much.

So my plans are:
Possibly a CD5i/CD5/Rega Planet 3 (depending on what I like this weekend at dem - indeed - IF any of these are much of an upgrade over my Mk 1 Planet)

New tweeters for my Rega Elas (maybe - but that would cost double what I paid for the whole speakers!!!)

Tickets for Glastonbury (he he he...)

James...were the Scanspeak tweeters you showed also known as the "revelators"?

if so, I use a pair myself, and can heartily vouch for their outstanding performance

“Didn't realise you were into the blues as well! Got three of Robben's albums myself and will be looking for his latest on my next visit to the record shop”

I mostly listen to blues these days and anyway, an awful lot of rock music has its foundations built on blues pentatonic scales so it’s just another version of the blues anyway! Robben’s latest album is great, his cover of ‘badge’ is outstanding – a beautifully fluid guitar solo which is very Santana-like its presentation. Oh, there are some great original tracks on the album too.
