Powering off Series 5

Posted by: Geoff J on 30 May 2003

Hi

I've looked on the forum archive (and in the manual) but could anyone confirm the order I should power off my Naim equipment please.

I have CD5, Nait 5 and Flatcap 2.

Regards

yes, that's great.

Thank you.

Better still, just leave it powered up all the time, which most users do and is the way it is intended to be used. You should only need to power-down when the system is being left for long periods or if you need to make some sistem changes.

Hi David

I'm not going to be around for a week ...would it be ok left powered up for that length of time without being used?

I never turn mine off(3 series) any more when on holiday. That said, when I used turn it off for a couple of weeks it took only a few hours to come on song - and then I switched it all off simultaneously at the wall socket.

cheers

You betcha it would be ok. The boxes will like you even better for doing so.

Electronic equipment is most vulnerable to failure during switch-on and warm up. Once at a stable temperature, it's 'Happy as Larry' and will perform at it's best. I did switch mine off when I went to Australia for 8 weeks, but like Nigel and Herm would not do so for just a few days.
