Quick Uniti question
Posted by: andyh411 on 12 October 2009
Morning.
I had a Uniti for a home demo over the weekend and i'm really impressed with the ease of use and how quickly it connected with my NAS drive. I just have 1 quick question for current owners - when streaming music does the pause button work? Of the transport keys, only play, stop and track skip would work. Is it a quirk of the loan machine or does this happen to others?
Thanks.
Andy.

Hi Steeve,
Thanks for checking that. It didn't seem right that you couldn't pause, but I don't understand why it wasn't working. Just need to decide now if I can afford to have one.
Cheers,
Andy.

Welcome Andy.
Obviously your dealer should be able to assist. Just ask him for a complete run through, on your next visit, or ask him to do this at home, with the rest of your kit.
Seems like a fine machine, enjoy.

Hi BigH47. Just noticed your location - i'm in East Grinstead!
I mentioned it to the dealer when I took the loan unit back. They said they'd have a play with it, but if it works for Steeve and silent tim it must be a limited issue.

Would that be Audio Design?
Hopefully they have a NAS drive set up and can show you.
I confess to being no use at all, what DA I have is from Mac to 82, via copper cable. That's frustrating enough!

That's the place. I did have a demo in the shop before I took it home - can't remember if the pause worked then or not.
I'm sure it'll all work ok, if I go for it. Tried to get some interest from the wife by showing her how easy it was to use - she couldn't read the screen from the sofa
It would be great to have a decent app for the touch.

Andy,
If you want an iPhone/Touch controller, i would recommend using Foobar and the corresponding http controller component.
Foobar can very easily be set-up as a UPnP server or renderer. Then easily controlled with Safari on your iPhone, with album art and playlists etc.......
Forget the PlugPlayer option. it sucks

Hi Patrick,
I didn't realise there was a reliable option available at the moment - i'd only read about plugplayer, so I obviously hadn't researched it very well. At the moment i'm using the default upnp server on a Readynas duo - I'll look up installing Foobar.

andy,
lets not start sucking each others' dicks quite yet.
Reliable yes.... but it takes a little setting up. But it is certainly not as instant/easy as Apple's "Remote App".
First, download and install Foobar.
Then go here:
http://nerdlets.org/2009/05/07...ver-with-foobar2000/
Skip the last step regarding Plug Player.
Then go here:
http://code.google.com/p/foo-h...ntrol/downloads/list
And download the http control component.
Install the .dll file into your Foobar/Components folder.
Extract the rest in the main Foobar folder.
Then you will need to set up the controller. Fairly easy. Read through the read or email me.

We had the same problems when we booked with 1800flyeurope, however, I called them and they helped me get the exact flight and time (MIA to MXP-leave FCO). Their booking service is every bit as good as their auto rentals. Another advantage with 1800flyeurope is that there are no additional delivery charges.
I would give them a call and see what they can do for you.

OK, Patrick. You made me laugh.

Connon,
I am glad I could brighten your day. Just a little homage to Pulp Fiction.
Cant wait to see you on Saturday the 31st!
